restaurants galore!

So, we just ate our 2nd dinner out at Turks and Caicos at the same restaurant as last night because it was the only one open that also took credit card. While the food was yummy and the scenery beautiful, I am thankful for all the restaurant options we have available to us at home!

I am thankful for the beautiful ocean. It amazes me how turquoise the water here is. I know all Caribbean has this gorgeous water, but it is really unreal here. In some locations it is a bright blue turquoise and in others such a pretty aqua green. I am thankful for the chance to swim in such a pretty ocean!

OMG the stars here are absolutely breathtaking. At night, our house is the only lights for miles and miles so when you look at the stars it is like nothing you've ever seen before. Then when we turned off the lights at our house, it truly feels like you are in a planetarium. From our deck, we can see the constellations Scorpio, Leo, and Libra (that's me!!) I am just in complete awe of God and his work when I see stars like this!

gas prices

Wow, I never thought I'd be thankful for our gas prices until we stopped at the gas station in Turks and the price wad $6.30 a gallon.... WOW!

walks on the beach

Greetings from Turks and Caicos! I didn't blog yesterday because the Internet wasn't working, but yesterday I was thankful to get here safe and sound :)

Today I am thankful for walks on the beach- especially a beach as gorgeous as this one! Today, we walked about 3 miles down to Three Mary Kays which is basically three huge rocks in the ocean that you can swim to and snorkel around! It was beautiful! The crazy thing is we only saw 3 people on the beach on our way down there and back and those are the only people we saw all day! (actually we did see one other person later- and two dogs!)

Turks and Caicos

I am thankful that I am going to Turks and Caicos tomorrow! We are staying at a house on the beach in North Caicos with Richie's family. I can't wait!!

I don't know if I will get to blog there, but if not I will list all the things I was thankful for when I get home! :)

Nanny job

I completely forgot to blog again yesterday! Yesterday, I was thankful for my nannying job. I nanny this family in the school year, but hadn't yet this summer. I was just at the point of getting bored when I watched them yesterday so it was perfect timing! I will watch them most of July as well. I am thankful for this job because it gives me something to do in the summer without taking over the whole break and it is a nice supplemental income in the school year- plus they are a great family!

lunch dates :)

I am thankful that I am able to go meet my sweet husband for lunch during the summer!  Today we had lunch at Tin Lizzys (mmmmmmm) and I had one of the best tacos's I have had there before- grilled chicken, bbq sauce, grilled onions, goat cheese, and m favorite- fried pickles! Yum, yum!

Dinner with friends

I got home late last night and forgot to post! So, yesterday I was thankful to go to dinner with friends for my friend Michelle's birthday!

Happy Father's Day

I am very thankful for my wonderful father. In honor of him, I will do the top 10 reasons my dad is great!

10. He is extremely generous and does so much for our family.
9. He is one of the kindest people I have ever known.
8. He makes the best sangria :)
7. He is so funny- even when not trying to be...especially his "accents"
6. He always cheers for Auburn during football season- especially during the Auburn vs. Alabama game!
5. For all the times he played "tiger" when I was little :)
4. He is turning out more and more like my Papaw every day
3. He has always been a role model for the type of guy I would want to spend my life with- someone fair, kind, hardworking, and willing to do anything for me.
2. He walked walked me down the aisle once I did find that person- and gave me a pretty perfect wedding to go with it!
1. Because I'll always be daddy's little girl no matter how old I get!

I am thankful for the two yellow butterflies I saw driving home today. If you have heard my story about yellow butterflies, you will understand. If not, just ask me... :)

I saw that on a coffee mug tonight and thought it was so cute, so I decided to make it my title for tonight's post! :)
Richie had to work late tonight and my dad was golfing, so my mom and I met at Alive After 5 in historic Roswell.  It is the cutest area with lots of yummy restaurants and adorable stores- like my favorite, The Bilt House! One Thursday a month, everything stays open later, they sell beer and wine on the streets or you can get to-go cups from the restaurants, there are bands, and it is just a lot of fun.  We had the best time walking around and getting dinner and dessert (watermelon mint popsicles- yum!).  Tonight, I am thankful to live close to my family so that we are able to jsut meet up on a whim and spend a wonderful Thursday evening togther!

L to the J

I went to the movies last night with some friends and then ended up staying over at my friend LJ's house because it was late and I'd consumed a little more wine than I'd intended. :) We stayed up super late just talking and catching up and then spent most of today together as well just hanging out. I have known Lindsey for over 15 years and am so thankful* to have her in my life. I love the fact that we still stay up almost all night talking about nothing and everything just like we used to in 7th grade!

*I have to share the fact that I must have hit some wrong letters when I was writing "thankful" because my iPad autocorrected it to "shameful". Glad I caught that! :)

productive days

I am thankful for productive days like the one I had today.  I went for a run with Wrigs, reorganized my closet and drawers, switched my winter clothes out for my summer ones (finally!), and put away a LOT of laundry.  Now I am off to see Bridesmaids with some friends! :)  Have a good night!

book worm

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to read. There isn't much I would rather do than curl up with a good book (or better yet-be on the beach or pool with one!) About two years ago I "re-discovered" the public library. I always went as a kid, but as I got older, I would just buy books. When you go through as many books as I do (I have a closet full if anyone ever wants to borrow one!), it gets to be an expensive hobby! When I started going back t using the library, I seriously became addicted to the idea of a free "bookstore"! I am thankful for my public library especially during the summer when I have time to get my reading in. I just checked out 4 books from there today...any guesses on how long it will take me to read them?! :)

home sweet home

I am thankful for my wonderful, cozy house. I had the best time at the beach, but it is always nice to be back in the comforts of your own home. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday evening!

my parents

I had a pretty fabulous childhood thanks to my parents.  Now that I am an adult, they have become not just great parents and role models for me, but also friends.  I am a huge family person and love being around them.  We had the very best time this week on the beach trip they took us on!  I am SO thankful for my wonderful parents for taking us on this trip (and so many others!) and for being what I consider to be the best parents ever! I love you!

Afternoon storms

Today I am thankful for afternoon storms at the beach- the perfect time to sit on the screened porch and read and nap! :)

quiet time

I woke up early this morning, went for a run, and then came back and did something I am usually not the best about on vacation- had quiet time. Everyone was still sleeping so it was just me, my Beth Moore independent study of Paul, and my bible. I sat outside on the screen porch with the fan on, the door open, and the birds chirping away and took some time to study the Word- what a perfect way to start the day! I am thankful for the wonderful quiet time I had this morning! I hope you all are able to get some time away to do the same! :)

I am thankful for the delicious dinner I had tonight at Red Bar...baked eggplant stuffed with shrimp, scallops, and zucchini! Yum,yum!

Seaside!

I am very thankful to be in Seaside, FL this week! It is the absolute cutest little beach town and I can't wait to spend time with my family here! Have a nice Saturday night y'all! We're off to ride bikes to get ice cream. :)

done, done, done!!

I am very thankful to be DONE with work until August!!!  School ended last Friday, but teachers had to work Tue-Fri this week for post-planning days and snow make-up days.  Since I am staying in the same room next year, I didnt have too much to do besides a few meetings and packing up my bookcases and things so the room can be cleaned.  So, I used the rest of my time to completely re-organize my closet and re-categorize my books into book bins (something I have needed/wanted to do all year but never have the time to do!)  Here is the finished project:

It was a lot of work (and a lot of sneezing...my closet is so dusty! Yuck!), but it was well worth it to be able to start next school year off with everything in a perfect place!  I am so happy to be done for the summer...what a great feeling! :)

I am thankful for the chance to sleep in some on our post-planing days (we are actually in "snow make-up days" now).  I woke up at 7:30 (much better than my normal 5:30!), took Wrigley for a run and am not getting ready to head to school!  Have a good day everyone! :)

good discussions...

I have already been thankful for the girls in my bible study, but tonight I am thankful for the opportunity to get to have such honest, open discussions about our Lord and life in general with a group of girls.  Tonight was our last bible study until August (minus our social gatherings of course) and it was, as always, such a great conversation!  It is so nice to be able to talk about the important things in lives and our different views on things without worrying about being judged or looking silly.  Plus it always leaves me with a renewed love for life and God each week!! :)
